Latest Stats as at 28/12/2011. ============================= These figures cover the 15-day period 1/12/2011 to 15/12/2011. Merry Christmas and not a great deal to report, although the rise of the generic search engine has been trend for 2011. Operating System Market Share ============================== For the period 1st to 15th December 2011, these percentage figures are based on visits, with earlier figures in brackets:- Windows-7 31.6 (31.8, 29.9, 32.5, 31.0, 31.7, 31.4, 30.7) XP 29.6 (27.4, 28.0, 27.7, 30.1, 29.7, 30.5, 31.4, 31.4) Vista 8.9 (9.4, 8.7, 9.8, 10.5, 10.2, 10.7, 10.5, 11.2) Pre-XP Windows 1.7 (1.9, 1.7, 2.2, 1.9, 1.7, 1.6, 1.2) Mac 11.7 (12.3, 15.4, 13.0, 12.4, 12.0, 12.1, 12.1, 11.6) iPhone etc 10.6 (11.1, 10.9, 9.3, 8.4, 9.0, 8.4, 8.2, 8.4) Android 2.0 (2.5, 2.1, 2.0, 2.1, 1.9, 1.7, 1.5, 1.7, 1.9) Other Mobiles 3.1 (2.7, 2.5, 2.6, 2.9, 2.8, 2.9, 3.3) Linux 0.8 (0.8, 0.7, 0.9, 0.7, 0.9, 0.7, 1.0, 1.0, 1.1) Windows-7 has fallen slightly and the earlier high growth rate has eased off. XP should be declining but it is not. The Windows-7 situation will change after people unwrap their Christmas Presents (Chrissie Pressies in Australia and Holiday Presents in the USA). Also this fortnight the Android measurement is a little lower and the Other Mobiles result a little higher. No explanation. The total sample size above was 17200. Browser Breakup =============== Percentages of visits for the period 1st to 15th December 2011:- IE 39.8 (39.3, 40.4, 41.1, 41.0, 41.7, 42.4, 42.0, 41.2) Safari 21.1 (22.5, 24.8, 20.6, 19.5 (19.8, 19.3, 18.5) FF 18.1 (17.2, 16.7, 18.7, 18.6, 18.6, 19.0, 20.2, 20.4) Chrome 16.9 (17.0, 14.8, 15.8, 17.1, 16.2, 15.3, 15.0) Opera 2.3 (2.4, 1.9, 2.1, 2.1, 2.0, 2.4, 2.3, 2.4, 2.3) All Others 1.8 (1.6, 1.5, 1.7, 1.7, 1.7, 1.9, 2.0, 2.2) Best to wait a month and then look more closely. The sample size was 17259 visits by humans. Search Engines Share ==================== Percentage breakup of visits coming via search engines for December 1st to 15th, 2011:- Google 90.4 (90.0, 90.0, 90.3, 90.5, 91.1, 89.7, 90.5, 90.6) Bing 3.1 (3.9, 4.1, 3.5, 3.4, 2.8, 3.3, 3.6, 3.5, 3.6, 3.7) Yahoo 2.9 (3.5, 3.5, 3.6, 3.4, 3.5, 4.5, 3.6, 3.7, 2.8, 3.2) All others 3.7 (2.7, 2.4, 2.6, 2.7, 2.6, 2.4, 2.3, 2.2, 3.1) Bing and Yahoo seem to have lost a little ground, and oddly it's to the Others category. This "Others" category has been bolstered over the last year by the rise of "generic" search where large companies (such as ISPs and telcos) provide a search engine for their customers. What appear to be "new" search engines have their results provided by the big players. So far, there are only three different syntaxes being used by these search engines, once you get past the name of the company in the URL. The sample size above was 12105 visits. ================================ ===============================
