Latest Stats as at 3/12/2013 ============================= These figures cover the 15 day period 16/11/2013 to 30/11/2013. Operating System Market Share ============================== For the period 15th to 30th of November, these percentage figures are based on visits, with earlier figures in brackets:- Windows-7 32.9 (32.8, 33.4, 32.8, 30.1, 29.7, 29.9, 30.2) XP 8.4 (8.3, 8.5, 8.9, 8.7, 8.3, 8.6, 8.9, 9.3, 9.4, 10.0) Windows-8 4.8 (4.5, 5.0, 5.6, 5.0, 4.8, 4.3, 4.6, 4.2, 3.9) Vista 2.6 (2.6, 2.8, 2.8, 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, 2.8, 3.1, 3.2, 3.4) Pre-XP Windows 1.5 (1.2, 1.2, 1.6, 0.9, 0.9, 0.8, 0.8, 0.6) Mac 10.2 (10.5, 10.7, 10.2, 10.2, 10.5, 10.3, 10.5, 9.3) iPhone/iPad/iPod 26.2 (27.0, 26.7, 25.6, 30.4, 31.0, 31.5) Android 11.0 (10.4, 9.5, 9.9, 9.4, 9.1, 9.1, 9.0, 10.5, 9.1) WinPhone 0.3 (0.3, 0.2, 0.3, 0.2, 0.3, 0.3, 0.2, 0.3, 0.2) Other Mobiles 1.4 (1.4, 1.2, 1.7, 1.7, 1.7, 1.8, 1.6, 1.6) Linux 0.7 (1.0, 0.7, 0.7, 0.9, 1.0, 0.9, 1.0, 0.6, 0.7) Windows 7 has triumphed on the desktop while Windows 8 is in the doldrums. Microsoft has a sorry history of providing things their customers don't want or things that are rough round the edges. Remember Windows 95 before Windows 98, Windows ME after Windows 98, Windows Vista after XP and so quickly replaced by Windows 7. And now we have Windows 8. It's clear that Windows 8 computers are not selling and it must be doing the hardware market a lot of damage. I can only assume many Windows 8 computers are being converted back to Windows 7. Problem - I think about half the Pre-XP Windows visits are fakes, although they look like real visits. To be investigated. Desktops/Laptops 61% and Mobiles/Tablets 39%. The total sample size above was 26623. Search Engines Share ==================== Percentage breakup of visits coming via search engines for November 15th to 30th, 2013:- Google 85.4 (86.3, 87.2, 89.1, 88.1, 89.6, 89.6) Bing 8.6 (7.7, 7.3, 6.0, 6.5, 5.5, 5.5, 5.7, 6.5) Yahoo 4.1 (4.1, 3.6, 3.1, 3.4, 3.2, 3.4, 3.5, 3.8) All others 1.8 (1.9, 1.9, 1.8, 2.0, 1.7, 1.5, 1.7) What's happening ?? The total number of searches in this sample was 15223, including 10257 of 13003 searches (79%) via Google where the search string is encrypted, allegedly for privacy reasons. This figure of 79% measured only 27% at the start of the year but has not increased for the last six weeks. There seems to have been a pause. =============================== ============================
