There were 119 iPad and 90 iPod visits, compared with 490 iPhone visits. The computer press had articles saying Android was racing ahead and was the next big thing. Actually it has passed Symbian (Nokia) and is now fourth behind the iPhone, then phones that say they are just Java, and the Blackberry. The figures shown above for XP and "Other" Windows are the lowest recorded in over two years. Windows XP was 67% in March 2009, and Others (Windows 98, Windows 2000 etc) measured over 77% in September 2002. An obvious prediction is that there will still be 3% Windows XP in 10 years time. Actually, when it comes to surfing the net, Microsoft still has over 83% of the operating system market. The total sample size was 22558 visits by Humans. Browser Breakup =============== Percentages of visits for the period 1st to 15th September 2010:- IE 54.0 (53.2, 53.2, 52.9, 51.7, 53.3, 52.4, 54.6, 54.6, 54.4) FF 22.4 (24.1, 23.5, 25.0, 25.3, 25.0, 25.7, 24.4, 24.7, 24.5) Safari 11.5 (10.9, 11.9, 11.1, 11.5, 10.3, 11.0, 10.4, 10.6) Chrome 8.2 (7.8, 7.4, 7.3, 8.1, 7.8, 7.3, 6.9, 6.6, 6.2, 6.3) Opera 1.9 (2.0, 1.8, 1.7, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.7, 1.6, 1.6, 1.7) All Others 2.1 (1.9, 2.2, 2.0, 1.9, 1.9, 1.9, 2.0, 1.8, 1.8) The highest figure ever recorded for Chrome but Firefox and Internet Explorer continue to oscillate. Firefox is a worry - two years ago it averaged 22.5% for Jul-Aug-Sep 2008. The sample size was 23088 visits by humans. Search Engines Share ==================== Percentage breakup of visits coming via search engines for September 1st to 15th, 2010:- Google 90.7 (91.2, 90.0, 90.1, 89.8, 90.6, 91.1, 89.8, 90.7, 90.5) Yahoo 3.3 (3.4, 4.6, 4.5, 4.5, 3.9, 3.7, 3.7, 3.7, 3.8, 4.4, 4.5) Microsoft 3.2 (2.6, 3.1, 2.9, 2.8, 3.0, 2.9, 3.7, 3.0, 2.9, 2.7) All others 2.8 (2.8, 2.3, 2.5, 2.9, 2.4, 2.5, 2.8, 2.6, 2.8, 2.7) The sample size above was 13250 searches. The slow decline of the once mighty Yahoo is sad to watch, although it continues to do well in Asia at around 14%. Bing seems to have made some inroads especially in England and Europe. Perhaps retailers are selling laptops with Bing as the default search engine. In Europe, Google takes 95%, then Yahoo and Bing are each around 1%, and all other search engines on 3%. ============================ =============================
