Vista Market Share ================== For period 1st to 15th May 2009, figures based on visits:- XP 63.4 (was 64.0, 64.5, 64.1, 67.3, 66.2, 65.3, 64.1, 64.7) Vista 22.7 (was 22.8, 22.1, 20.4, 21.1, 21.1, 20.4, 20.9, 22.0) Other Windows 4.0 (was 3.5, 3.7, 5.5, 3.5, 3.6, 4.3, 4.9, 3.3) Mac 7.4 (was 7.1, 7.2, 7.4, 5.9, 6.7, 7.8, 7.9, 7.7) Linux 1.0 (was 1.2, 1.0, 1.2, 0.8, 0.9, 1.0, 1.0, 1.2) Others 1.5 (was 1.4, 1.5, 1.5, 1.4, 1.5, 1.2, 1.2, 1.1) Mobile phones (including iPhones) and various gadgets are included in the Others category. The XP percentage is falling, and Vista is steady. Not good news for the biggest software company in the world. Total sample size 18,975 visits. Browser Breakup =============== Percentages of visits for the period 1st to 15th May 2009. IE 62.7 (was 63.2, 63.9, 66.5, 68.6, 67.0, 67.0, 66.2, 66.0) FF 26.0 (was 26.4, 25.7, 24.1, 23.1, 24.0, 22.8, 24.2, 24.5) Safari 5.9 (was 5.5, 5.9, 5.4, 4.7, 5.2, 5.9, 6.1, 5.8) Chrome 1.9 (was 1.8, 1.6, 1.2, 1.0, 1.3, 1.2, 1.1, 1,4) Opera 1.7 (was 1.5, 1.3, 1.1, 1.0, 0.9, 1.3, 1.1, 0.9) All Others 1.7 (was 1.5, 1.6, 1.6, 1.5, 1.5, 1.8, 1.3, 1.4) Yet again the lowest figure ever recorded for IE. And all the minor players have increased their share, giving a slight drop for Firefox. Results for Safari include Safari on the iPhone, and the Opera figures include Opera Mini on mobiles. I was preparing to write Opera off, but the figures are otherwise. Search Engines Share ==================== Percentage breakup of visits coming via search engines for May 1st to 15th 2009:- Google 83.6 (was 85.6, 87.3, 86.3, 86.8, 85.4, 85.8, 85.5, 82.8) Yahoo 10.3 (was 7.8, 6.7, 6.3, 7.1, 8.0, 7.8, 8.0, 10.1) Microsoft 2.4 (was 2.8, 2.4, 2.9, 2.3, 2.5, 2.3, 2.3, 2.6) All others 3.8 (was 3.8, 3.6, 4.5, 3.8, 4.1, 4.2, 4.1, 4.5) This month sees a sudden jump in Yahoo to 10.3%. The "all others" category is steady at 3.8%. Total sample size 9,302 visits referred by search engines. Countries Analysis ================== A brief analysis, based on hits not visits. In the last 15 days, hits came from 143 different countries:- United States 29% Australia 24% United Kingdom 8% India 5% Canada 4% Rest of the World 30% (no figure larger than 3.2%) A very quick Google analysis. Based on hits, last month Australian searches came in with an amazing 91% Google. The current result for 15 days is 92% for Google with a total sample size of 1164. That's about as near to a monopoly as any company could imagine. A few weeks ago there was a case where 8000 people looked at a picture of a dog smoking.
